This one was not glamorous.
Under the generators we uncovered 57 years of grease, oil, and layers of buildup that had been sitting there longer than some boats stay afloat. Every bit of it had to be cleaned before we can move forward with installing the hybrid-electric system.
So we brought in a steam pressure washer and went after it properly. What came off that engine room floor was unbelievable… and Blaine wore most of it by the end of the day.
Thank you for being here and supporting this project. Operation Silent Running is crowd funded, and it moves forward because people believe this can be done.
If you’d like to support the build in a bigger way, consider joining one of our paid tiers. Your name goes on the Wall of Power in the engine room and you become part of proving that a hybrid-electric conversion on a yacht this size is possible.
