We have decided to cancel our Kickstarter.
And honestly, this was not an easy decision.
We tried something new. We thought Kickstarter might be a good way to bring more people into the Operation Silent Running project and help fund the next stage of Tangaroa’s hybrid-electric conversion.
But as the campaign went on, it started to feel wrong for us.
A little ick, if we’re being honest. Especially the emails that the firm running the Kickstarter for us was sending out.
We heard you. We listened to the feedback. And we also had to listen to our own gut. This project has always been built on trust, honesty, and taking you along for the real journey — the good parts, the hard parts, and the messy parts.
The Kickstarter just stopped feeling like us.
To everyone who backed us: thank you. Truly. You showed up for us, and we do not take that lightly.
We are going to cancel the campaign, but we will still be sending something special to every backer as a thank you for believing in us and being willing to support this project.
Operation Silent Running is not cancelled. Tangaroa’s hybrid-electric conversion is not cancelled. We are still moving forward, and we will keep sharing the whole process the way we always have — honestly, openly, and in real time.
Thank you for trusting us enough to support the idea, and thank you for trusting us enough to let us change course when something does not feel right.
