It has been almost a year since we launched our memberships, and we’ve been taking a good look at how to make them more valuable for the people who support Tangaroa.
When we first started, we shared almost everything publicly because we were building this community from scratch. That was the right thing to do, and we are so grateful for everyone who has watched, commented, shared, and supported us along the way.
But Tangaroa is entering a much bigger chapter now.
We are working through the hybrid-electric conversion, preparing for remote cruising, and continuing toward Alaska, Siberia, and Japan. At the same time, it takes a lot of time and money to bring these videos to you every week — filming, editing, uploading, researching, maintaining Tangaroa, and keeping two YouTube channels moving.
So we are revamping Tangaroa Crew to make it feel more like what it should be: the place where members get the real-time story.
Public videos are not going away. We will still keep sharing the journey on YouTube.
But Tangaroa Crew members will now get more of what happens before the public videos are finished, including:
- Wheelhouse Weekly — our private weekly update from Tangaroa
- Inside updates on the hybrid-electric build
- Member-only photos and route notes
- Crew polls
- Q&A opportunities
- Private tracking when we are underway
- The Captain’s Log
- Behind-the-scenes updates that do not always make it to YouTube
- Crew-only gear, depending on your membership tier
- Postcards, bonus gifts, and Wall of Power access at select levels
Our website is the best place to join if you want the full Tangaroa Crew experience. More of your support reaches us here than through some other platforms, and this is where we can offer crew-only gear like mugs, shirts, hoodies, postcards, bonus gifts, and Wall of Power plaques.
We want this membership to feel worth it.
